Thankful for Change

Today I just wanted to share with you why I am Thankful for Change. Many people are resistant to change. I myself can be that way at times, but not today.

This came across my mind as I looked out my snow covered back yard and thought to myself, “Ok, this cold really needs to go now. We’ve had enough of winter and I am ready for a change.” Hmm, I thought, now that would be a good Thankful Thursday post. I am thankful for changes. The warm sun coming up gives us hope and promise for a new day. That is a change from the last few days of wintery icy weather we faced. I am glad for this change.

I can see new buds on my plants with the sprigs of my daffodils and tulips emerging from their planted bulbs and am rest assured that spring is right around the corner. Yippee!! I really like the change of seasons. Each one has its own special purpose and I am grateful that I am here to see a new season beginning. I may be jumping the gun a bit with the hope of spring getting here because that groundhog saw his shadow but I can just sense the change coming.

Change can be a good thing if we allow it to be. It is not just the weather I am talking about either. To me, change equals growth. If we don’t like something about our current situation we have the ability in most cases to do something about it. It is like the old saying goes, “If you keep doing what you are doing; you will get what you got.”

I can change my attitude about the way I look at things from being resistant to trying something new. Instead I can look at a new task as a challenge for advancement. We have a motto around our house that states, “Any day of learning is a good day.” So when I am faced with something new I can either choose to do things the way I have always done, or I can learn something by trying a new strategy.

Change is not something we have to fear; it is something we can embrace and nurture. I have to say that now I look forward to things changing around me. It may not always be easy at first to accept but change could actually lead us to a better place than we ever expected. This comes with the faith that “all things work for the greater good” and I am confident that this is true for my own life. You know why? It is because I choose to accept this belief. So tell me what changes are you thankful for?
