Container Vegetable Gardening

Container Vegetable Gardening has become appealing to many who just don’t have the space or time it takes to grow vegetables in a traditional vegetable garden but still want to start a garden and reap the healthy benefits that growing your own vegetables can provide. Just as the name implies you can use containers of different sizes and shapes to grow your own vegetables.

Container Vegetable Gardening is a fairly inexpensive way to get started growing your own vegetables. Depending on what vegetables you want to plant you can use 5 gallon buckets, window boxes, ceramic/terracotta pots or other planters to grow your vegetables in these types of containers.

As I mentioned in my previous post Different Vegetable Garden Designs this method of growing vegetables is well suited for all kinds of people, especially those with very limited space available for planting vegetable crops. If you live in an apartment then growing vegetables in a pot or window box planter may be the best solution for your gardening needs. Maybe you don’t have a lot of yard space but you have a deck or small patio. These garden containers would allow you to still grow the vegetables or herbs that you want just in a condensed area.

Those who don’t have the time to spend on a full size vegetable garden often find that container vegetable gardening is just as rewarding but with less hassles of having to tend to a large space. Container gardens are often placed in very convenient and easy to reach places so the home vegetable gardener doesn’t have far to go in order to tend to the vegetables that they are growing.

Container vegetable gardening is another way of gardening that we will be introducing to our young granddaughters to get them in on the act of growing their own vegetables. This is an excellent family bonding activity for them to share in. It also won’t put much pressure on their parents to help the young girls with tending to the vegetables growing in the containers since both of them work outside the home.

Green Earth Box Ready-to-Grow System

Containers for vegetable gardening come in various shapes and sizes. Deck boxes are well suited for growing herbs or vegetables like lettuce, green onions or even carrots to mention just a few. This type of container vegetable gardening is sometimes known by the eco-friendly term Green Earth Box for container gardening. This Green Earth Box Ready-to-Grow System is available for you to purchase and it comes with the materials and instructions necessary for you to fill the box with the vegetables that you would like to grow.

Some prefer to grow vegetables in gardening pots or garden planters. Growing tomatoes in this type of container gardening lends itself well as long as you have a trellis to tie your tomato plant to as it grows. There are also self watering planters that do well for all sorts of vegetables that you may wish to begin growing yourself.
